Competition privacy notice
Competition privacy notice: Win an Apple Watch and £600 of Adday products
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This notice explains how we use your personal data when you enter our competition, whether you enter on our website or through a form on Facebook or Instagram. It sits alongside our main Privacy Policy and the competition terms and conditions.
Who we are
Adday is a trading name of AYMES International Limited (company number 6603123), Sunnyhills Road, Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 5RJ. AYMES International Limited is the controller of your personal data. You can contact our Data Protection Officer at dataprotection@aymes.com or by post at the address above.
What we collect
- When you enter: your first name, your email address and your confirmation that you are 18 or over, live in the UK and accept the competition terms.
- If you choose to join our mailing list or agree to advertising: a record of your consent, including when and where you gave it.
- If you win: your full name, delivery address, phone number, your choice of watch colour and size, and the Adday products you choose.
- If you enter through Facebook or Instagram: the details you submit in the form, plus the date and time you submitted it and which advert you entered through.
We do not ask for, and you should not give us, any information about your health.
How we use it and why
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Run the competition: record your entry, check you are eligible, apply the one-entry rule and pick a winner at random | Contract: to carry out the competition terms you accept when you enter |
| Contact and verify the winner, and order and deliver the prize | Contract |
| Make the winner’s surname and county available on request, as the UK advertising codes require | Legitimate interests: running a fair, transparent competition |
| Prevent fraud and duplicate entries | Legitimate interests |
| Send you marketing emails about Adday products and offers, including the Taster Pack offer | Consent, only if you tick the mailing list box |
| Show you Adday adverts on Facebook and Instagram, and help Meta find people with similar interests to see our adverts | Consent, only if you tick the advertising box |
| Deal with questions or complaints about the competition | Legitimate interests |
Entering the competition does not sign you up to marketing or advertising. Joining the mailing list and agreeing to advertising are both optional and have no effect on your chance of winning. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
The winner is chosen at random. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling to decide who wins.
Advertising on Facebook and Instagram
If you tick the advertising box, we will upload your email address to Meta to create custom audiences. Meta uses these to:
- show you Adday adverts on Facebook and Instagram
- leave you out of adverts that are not relevant to you, such as offers you have already used
- create lookalike audiences, so our adverts reach other people with similar interests
Your email address is converted into a code (hashed) before it is uploaded. Meta uses it only to match it to a Facebook or Instagram account, and deletes it after matching. Meta does not tell us who has been matched, and the lookalike audiences it creates do not identify you.
You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing dataprotection@aymes.com. We will then remove you from our audiences. You can also control the adverts you see in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.
Who we share it with
- Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, if you enter through Facebook or Instagram. Meta collects your form details and passes them to us. Meta’s own use of your data when you use its services is covered by Meta’s Privacy Policy.
- Klaviyo, which stores entries and sends our emails.
- Shopify, which hosts our website and the entry form.
- Retailers and delivery companies, to order and deliver the winner’s prize.
These organisations act on our instructions, except where stated. We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to any other organisation for its own marketing. We share your email address with Meta for advertising only if you have agreed to it.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of these providers, including Meta, Klaviyo and Shopify, may process your data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Entries: 3 months after the competition closes, then deleted.
- The winner’s details: 12 months after the prize is delivered, to deal with any queries or disputes.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe. We keep a record of your unsubscribe request so we do not email you again.
- Advertising audiences: until you withdraw your consent, and for no longer than 12 months after the competition closes.
Age limit
The competition is open only to UK residents aged 18 and over. If we find that someone under 18 has entered, we will delete their entry.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have it corrected or deleted
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive it in a portable format
- withdraw your marketing or advertising consent at any time
To use any of these rights, email dataprotection@aymes.com. If you ask us to delete your entry before the competition closes, you will no longer be entered.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
